Ultima Genomics delivers the $100 genome. Founded in 2016 by Gilad Almogy & Mark Pratt, the company combines chemistry, ML, & fluidics to “drive down the cost of genomic information until it is routinely used in every part of the healthcare system.”
The instrument is enabled by a 200 mm silicon wafer rotating stage. Generating ~10B reads with a lower density but larger surface area. With unterminated single channel chemistry & mix of labeled/unlabeled nucleotides. And fluidics releasing reagents at the center before spinning.
Ultima released a large set of data at AGBT in 2022 from >200 human genomes with the Broad to 3D genomes & methylation landscapes.

ML/CNNs are used to deal with the tradeoff between cost & accuracy, positioning Ultima to create new sequencing applications.
