Axial: https://linktr.ee/axialxyz
Axial partners with great founders and inventors. We invest in early-stage life sciences companies such as Appia Bio, Seranova Bio, Delix Therapeutics, Simcha Therapeutics, among others often when they are no more than an idea. We are fanatical about helping the rare inventor who is compelled to build their own enduring business. If you or someone you know has a great idea or company in life sciences, Axial would be excited to get to know you and possibly invest in your vision and company . We are excited to be in business with you - email us at info@axialvc.com
Brammer Bio is a cell/gene therapy CDMO formed in 2016 as a merger between Florida Biologix & Brammer. Led by Mark Bamforth, Richard Snyder & Chris Murphy, Brammer was a first mover in CGTs, acquired by Thermo in 2019, part of broader consolidation in the CDMO market that year.
Florida Biologix had been around for about a decade and had built a client base in cell and gene therapies (CGT). Brammer was founded in 2015 to build a CGT CDMO. Mark had previously built & sold Gallus, a contract manufacturer to DPx/Patheon https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/brammer-bio-formed-through-merger-of-brammer-biopharmaceuticals-and-florida-biologix-300243284.html
With Mark’s operational experience & Florida Biologix’s customer base plus private equity backing, Brammer was put in the fast lane to scale. Based in MA with facilities in Florida, the company grew with the overall CGT market as hundreds of programs tried to enter the clinic.
Brammer was ultimately acquired by Thermo Fisher in 2019 for $1.7B, to integrate with their Patheon acquisition. And is a case study pointing to the need for structured finance to build a successful biomanufacturing startup https://ir.thermofisher.com/investors/news-events/news/news-details/2019/Thermo-Fisher-Scientific-to-Acquire-Brammer-Bio-a-Leader-in-Viral-Vector-Manufacturing-2019-3-24/default.aspx
